New stash!

I got some stash in the mail today. I had ordered fabric for next to nothing from silkweaver. It is those odd sizes you need sometimes. I got 7 pieces of fabric for only ten dollars and that included the shipping! Made me very happy! http://www.silkweaver.com/

It is glorious here!

Wow!!! I can not believe our weather! We have suffered all summer long with the heat and little rain. They are saying it will be the 6th or 7th hottest year on record. Well, yesterday it was cloudy and only got up to around 70. This morning it was in the 50's when Katie and I took our little walk. They say the rest of the week will be in the low 80's and I am not going to fuss one bit! I am so ready for a little cooler weather!

By the way, here is one of the many angels I bead. thought you might like to see.

My gifts from the wish fairy

I was so blessed Saturday to get a surprise in the mail. I belong to a forum called Cross Stitch Crazy and they have wish fairies. Well I was blessed by the wish fairy. I got a hand dyed piece of fabric from Stab and Stash called magic sprinkles. Two DMC fabrics, one in light violet blue the other is a huge piece of their new linen aida fabric. Plus three skeins of hand dyed floss. A color called Aurora, one called peppermint and one called Autumn Leaves. I feel so blessed and God is good! I have been blessed with a lot this year and I am very thankful.

Had enough of the berries!

Well, the berries got to me. I had to put it aside for a bit. I decided to work on a simple little project for a bit. It is done on hand dyed fabric from Stab and Stash called Magic Sprinkles. I am using hand dyed floss from Carrie's Creation called Aurora and some DMC. All were given to me (except the DMC) by the wish fairy on Cross Stitch Crazy. The patterns are called Celtic Keys from a book I have of Celtic designs. after I finish it I am going to work on my Gathering Honey project for a bit and then back to those lovely berries!

Buckets of rain

My word but it rained today! It must have dropped 3 inches in minutes! And of course I volunteered to go in Wally World (Wal-Mart) while Jack sat in the car with Katie. Just my luck!!!!! But I am glad for the rain as we have been in a drought for over a year. Katie got maybe 2 drops on her when we got home and she kept shaking as if she had had a bath! Goofy dog! I am sooo sure a little water hurt her but what min pin does like water?

Those pesky berries!!!

Well, here are those darn berries I am cross stitching on my tree skirt. There are a total of 26 sets of them and I have about 6 sets done. I will be sooo glad to get them finished. They are not difficult just kinda boring. However, I will perservere against the dreaded berries until I am done!!! LOL!

Yippee!!! Happy day

Well, the birds are done on my tree skirt. I am on to the berries and boy there are a lot of them!!! I might be seeing them in my sleep. LOL! What a nightmare that would be--berries all over the place coming after me! Run for the hills. Okay, I know I have a vivid imagination. I have discovered that outlining them first and then filling in is the easiest way to do it. Question is, will I have the darn thing done by Christmas? Even if I don't get the fabric backing on, I would like to have it ready enough to use this year. We have been using a bright colored towel and, well, we are both tired of that! So that is my day. Thanks for listening. Oh, here is a funny pic to make you smile today!

A quilt by Jack

This is my favorite quilt that Jack has done. I believe it is called "Happy Day Angel" but don't hold me to that! it took him a while to finish but it was worth all the time. I bought it as a present for him a couple years back.
You know, it is so nice to have someone to cross stitch with. And someone who loves going to Hobby Lobby as much as I do. We just about fight for the Herrschner's catalog when it comes! LOL! That is why we are the sew n' sews. Jack started out doing long stitch crewel to strengthen his arm and shoulder after an injury. Evenually he switched over to stamped cross stitch and has been doing that every since. About 10 years or so. At least with a hubby that sews, I don't have to worry about him thinking I have to much stash. I guess the only problem we have sewing together is the rare times with both need the same floss color. Small price to pay!

Another finished project

This is a project I did this year. It is called "To church I love to go" by Karen Kluba of Rosewood manor. it was such a fun stitch. it is a very large project but a fun stitch. One of my favorites this year. I finished it early this summer.

This was given to me by a dear friend along with some other goodies last year I believe. I will have it done for Christmas this year so Hooray!!!! By the way the forum is called Cross stich crazy and is a wonderful place to belong too.

A project by Jack

This is just too cute not to share!!! Jack did this stamped cross stitch project. He is working on the companion piece called "In the can" On that one the bear is in a watering can. They will be so adorable in the guest bath!

Oh that Katie!!!

I just have to write more about Katie. She is such a funny girl. When we are walking she grumbles and barks at people but she is actually a big softie and loves to be petted. She adores kids so much! She just has to put on this tough front for the world. Kinda like some people!

You should see her when she goes for an R-I-D-E. Either she is in my lap looking out the window, sitting on the console between us or going back and forth on the back seat. When she sits on the console, it makes it hard to shift and she is good at getting her head in the way when you need to look for traffic! LOL! But that is okay.

She is also very demanding when she thinks it is supper time. She seems to know what time it is and demands her meal betweeen four and four thirty. Believe me she lets you know she needs that food and now! She is also very good at waking me up really early to take her walk. Usually she has me up before six. It is a nice time for a walk though so I don't mind really. We always lay down for a nap afterwards. I just don't do early mornings!

Well, that is my funny girl. She sure puts a sparkle in two differently-abled peoples lives. She keeps us smiling.

Gathering Honey after one week

Well here it is after one week of work. I managed to get quite a bit done despite a big mistake earlier. It is a fun project, but some spots are a bit complicated and slow me down. There are a lot of color changes in some areas and it can get confusing!
I won't be working on it this week. One of my forums is having a stitch-a-thon this week. I picked out a couple easy pieces to work on so I can get more done. So there you have it.

Plugging along!!!

I am going along quite well with my latest project. This was my work as of Wednesday. I have finished the little garden section I was working on, plus the one to the right of it. Now I am working on the saying that is above and below this area. I messed up on the bottem verse and had to tear it all out!!! ARRRGGGG! Frustrating! Oh well, as you sew, sew shall you rip!

Silly Katie-Bug!!!!

Yesterday we thought Katie would like to take a ride. This is one of her favorite things to do. She gets so excited when you ask her if she wants to go for a ride. Well, she really got cranked yesterday and jumped up in Jack's lap. He had on shorts and Katie left nice, pretty tread marks!!! I know it smarted like anything. Doesn't take much to get her going. She is a mess but we love her! Here is a cute pic.

My current project

This is my new project. It is called Gathering Honey. It is a pattern from Cross Stitching and Country crafts the May/June '87 issue. I am working on 14 count fiddlers lite aida. I plan on making two changes to it. I want to add a bit of glimmer to the bees wings and replace the french knots with beads. I am looking forward to doing this. I have always loveds the pattern but never got around to doing it. I don't know why but it just always got pushed aside for other things. I finally decided after so many years of waiting to do it I would.

Redware is done

Well, redware is finished. It took just over a month. i mostly enjoyed it but sometimes the scrollwork was a bit confusing. All in all it turned out pretty good. I finished it up yesterday and started a new project as well. Here it is!

What I am working on now

This is my current project. It is called Redware and is from Jerimiah Junction. I am doing it on khaki linen. I should be all done this week. I have only one letter to finish, a few scrolls, one small plate and the running stitch to finish. I can hardly wait! It has been a fun project and easy to do mostly. I have been working on it about 5 weeks.
Since this pic was taken, I have finished the r by the e, the small plate above it and the running stitch on the side and top and several scrolls.

Meet Katie-Bug!

This is our girl! She is such a joy! She loves to snuggle and burrow under the covers. She is a quiet, sweet natured thing. She loves her walks and pestering her daddy Jack. We feel so blessed to have her and really enjoy her!

We are sweltering here!

Hello and welcome. I just wanted to do a blog about our simple life here in Missouri. Hubby and I both cross stitch. He does stamped and I do counted. We call ourselves the sew n' sews! We are owned by Katie-Bug the min pin. She is about 4 years old. She has lived with us since May of this year. She is a rescue dog who was found roaming the streets here very much pregnant. She had her 6 pups, raised them, sent them on too new homes and came to brighten our lives. It has been tough the last couple years. We lost our 6 and a half year old doxie to liver failure March 26, 2004 and then March 16 2006 we lost our 14 year old doxie. That is a lot of heart ache in such a short time! Okay that is enough of an intro. Here is a pic of my family. There is Jack, me and our neice Tina.
