A glorious Sunday!

Sunday was such a beautiful, glorious day! the temps were in the upper 70's with just a slight breeze and tons of sunshine. We went to the large park here in Nixa for katie's afternoon walk. We all enjoyed it. Then we piled back into the car and took a country drive. We passed some places I really want to take pictires of. We will do another drive in the same area next weekend to take those pics. Now here is a funny story about Sunday. First I must tell you that Katie greatly enjoyed her ride and walk. That said, here we go. I took Katie out into the yard for her after dinner bathroom break. Naturally she had to chase grasshoppers and she caught a big one! She played with him some and then proudly marched into the house with it. Then she laid it at Jack's feet while he was tending dinner. Thrilled him to no end! LOL! Katie looked so proud of herself as if she was saying thanks for the ride and walk here is a treat for you. She dragged that thing all over the house with her waiting for dad to take his treat. When she parked it on the sofa and wasn't looking, Jack disposed of the poor thing. When Katie realized her prize was gone, she looked at him as if to say, "Where did it go?" Jack thanked her for the present and told her it tasted pretty good with salt and pepper!!! GAG!!!!!!! Seemed to satisfy Katie though and she settled in for a nap. Yep, we are a crazy family! Oh and I put in a pic of the pasture behind us in fall colors.

Nearly done!!!

I am doing an early happy dance for sure. I am nearly done with my Gathering Honey project. I have one bumbler to cross stitch, one garden to cross stitch and a few more beads to add. Then a little outlining. I just spent a day and a half outlining when I picked it up again Friday. Keep in mind that I cross stitch an average of 4 to 5 hours a day. I thought I would never see the end of all that outlining! But I made it!! I didn't think it was that much when I started it but my word it went on forever! I will be glad to see this done.
For those who have asked. The music playing is the Gaither Vocal Band. And if you listen long enough I have Louie Armstrong on here doing What a Wonderful World.

Updates

Here are some updates for you. Jack found me a basket at a garage sell down the street. He got it for 2 dollars. Pretty good deal! I put a quilt top I haven't finished in it to bring the pillows up some. Then a course there is Katie working hard! LOL! And my finished tree skirt. All I need to do now is cut out the hole in the middle and do my sewing on it. And I finished the kitty for my friend. So it will be leaving soon. Guess that is all for now!

Villages

These are a set of villages from Jeremiah Junctions magazine Cross Country Stitching. I have one more done that I haven't photographed yet. I was feeling pretty smug 'cause I thought I was about done with them. So what did they do? They started adding more to them! LOL! I will never get them all done. But I will have fun doing them!

Pillows and Katie-Bug

For some reason, blogger added Katie's pic twice. Sorry!

I wanted to show you the homemade pillows we have on our bed. Jack made the fan one and the lady one. Can't remember who put them out as he did them some time ago. I did the other two. I corcheted the one some time ago. Of course the dark blue one is Jerimiah Junstion. What more would you expect of me!!!? LOL! I have one more to do and then that will be it for the pillows on the bed.
On a happy note. I finished all the cross stitching on my tree skirt. Now I just need to do the sewing. i am doing a big timer happy dance!

Of course I had to put this pic of Katie on here. She was sunbathing yesterday! Must have felt prety good. My it was chilly on Katie and I's walk this morning. We got down to 33 last night and no snow like New York. However, I will say Thursday morning felt colder as it was windy. This morning was calm.

Skidboot the dog

You have got to watch this video. It is about an awesome dog named Skidboot. Might make you cry too. Makes you realize the truely important things in life are not material.

Chilly Good Morning!

My goodness it was chilly this morning. Had to turn the heat on for a bit to warm up. Jack and I had some hot drinks for breakfast. he had tea and I chose coffee. Katie was glad for her sweater on our walk. I was wishing I had covered my ears!!!! LOL! They felt like ice cubes by the time I got home! Tomorrow promises to be colder! Oh joy!!!!

Yippee on one thing!!! My Rainbow Bridge chart arrived yesterday. I love it! The fabric will have to be almost two feet long. I will make it into a banner. I will need some extra fabric to stitch on as I am going to put Bubba Joe and Mr. Max's birth and death dates on it.
Well, Here are some more of my older projects.
Of course the top one is a Jeremiah Junction. The 23rd Psalm I can not remember who put it out. I do know it was quite a bit of work! But I really like it.

Katie-Bug's Sweater

Look what mom made for me!!!!! I am such a lucky girl! It is supposed to be 30 degrees one morning. That is cold! Mom worked so hard to get me a sweater crocheted so I would stay warm on our morning walks. It was nice to have it on this morning. It was chilly and drizzly but I was most toasty! Thanks mom!!!!!!!

Some older stitching

I will start with my kitties. The fella with the butterflies was done in the mid 90's. He will be made into a pillow. Sorry i do not remember where I got this pattern. The set of 4 kitties are from Cross Country Stitching. I don't know the issue right off hand. The last, my paperbag kitties are the newest. For the life of me I can not think of who designed them. They have a lot of these cats and they are pretty popular. I will put the name in here as soon as I have a chance to look it up. Enjoy!

Rainbow Bridge chart

I just bought this chart. I have been wanting it for a bit and saved up enough to finally get it. And 1-2-3 Stitch had it on sell as well! Yippee!! It is a design by Sue Hillis and will be nearly 3 feet long when finished. So now I will need to save the money up to buy a big enough piece of fabric. We want to hang this design up and place pics of our pets who have gone on to the Bridge around it. Like a memorial wall.

Just have to do it!

Okay, Jack will likely give me the "LOOK" if he sees this pic on here but I am going to do it anyway!!!! I just love this picture. I took it during a cold spell this September. Katie was chilly and wanted to snuggle with Jack in his chair. She was shivering so he tucked her into her afghan. Pretty soon, Jack was snoozing away. His "Power Naps" as he calls it. Just look at how Katie is looking at him! LOL! I love it!!!

Drumroll----Jack has a finish!

Jack finished up his "In the Can" project last night. This one is every bit as cute as the companion one he did. I just love the big, fat, smiling bumblers! The bear looks a little impatient I think. All in all, adorable!

A praying mantis & small pillows & a recipe

Now how is that for a combination? This is my baby praying mantis that hangs around out front on all the vegetation. I have to be careful removing dead flowers from my marigolds. I don't want to hurt him. I don't mind praying mantis when they are babies, but the adults creep me out!!! Yuck!

I finished two more small pillows. The welcome friends one was cross stitched by Jack and I did the other. You can't see it real well but it says Jesus, a root out of Jesse. A scripture from the Bible. Here is an easy recipe for you as well.

Broccoli Casserole

10 ounce frozen broccoli, thawed

2 10 3/4 ounce cream of mushroom soup

6 ounce pkg. herb flavored stuffing mix

1/2 cup butter, melted

Place broccoli and soup in a buttered 1 & 1/2 quart casserole dish, mix well. Toss stuffing with butter in a mixing bowl; add to casserole dish. Stir gently to mix. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Makes 4 to 6 servings.

bumblebee doily

I love to make doilys! I have a very large collection of them. This is a large doily about 30 inches across. it has bumblebees all around on a honeycomb. Sorry the picture is not better.

Meet my snowmen!

These are plastic canvas snowmen I did last year. I love snowmen!!!!! They were fairly easy to do and used floss and 14 count plastic canvas. We hang them on our little tree each year.

Pray for the amish in PA.

Have you heard about the shooting in Amish country? A man walked into a one room amish school and took them all hostage. He released the boys and some of the adults. Before the state police could stop him, he shot several of the girls. Three have died and he killed himself. This is the third school shooting in the last week. Please say a prayer for this evil to stop.

Herbert & the horses

Here is my buddy Herbert the scarecrow. Old Herbert has been with us a couple years now. Each time he likes to come out around the first of September and hang out by the front door next to the marigolds. Herbert just stands there and smiles at everyone. Sometimes he waves too. And if I don't patch up his britches, Herbert is going to be mighty embarrased!

See the horses in my header? These are my buddies that live in the pasture out back of our duplex. They aren't ours but I just love to pet and feed them. One of them is a sucker for a scratch behind the ear. He leans into it so much I think he is going to tip right on over. I get lots of warm nuzzles with those soft noses too.

Oh and for everyone who might be curious, yes, Katie-Bug was so named before she started eating grasshoppers!

Happy Birthday Jack!!!

My sweetie is 53 years old today! I asked him if he felt 53 and he said, "No, I feel 153!" Poor guy is having a lot of pain the last few days. For those who don't know, he has degenerative arthritis in his back, knees, feet and neck. But you will still find him taking a short walk in the evening and cross stitching. We just laugh at our health woes and keep on trucking. Last night, I made him a fudge marble cake with cream cheese frosting. This is a rare treat as Jack is borderline diabetic. I made sure it was okay for him to have it. As long as he eats very little, it is cool for him to eat some.

It is a lovely day here today. A little warm but that is the rollercoaster of fall.
