The letter U

I got this from Meari's blog. She assigned me the letter U. So here are ten things that begin with U and what they mean to me.
1. Uncle-my uncle Don who I loved and miss so much.
2. unicorn-always believe in the magic moments in life.
3. undying-the love for God and my husband
4. Universe-a pretty good place to live! LOL!
5. Unfailing-my belief in the beauty of life.
6. Under-Never letting the bad things in life pull me down.
7. United-my friends and I.
8. undone-me when I get nervous!!! LOL!
9. Unique-everyone is different.
10. Unwrap-the beginning of a bright new day!

Thanks a lot Meari! that was tough but I did it! Anyone want to play? Just comment and I will assign you a letter. Then you do the same as me. Put a word and what it means to you.

Some updates and some fun photos

Look at the beautiful, huge leaf Katie and I found on our walk. I think it is wonderful! Doesn't take much to thrill me!

Look at the progress on Jack's quilt! I just love the cute stars and the angel bear. Had to leave Katie in the pic. Looks like she is praying. The pattern on this quilt is significant for the person it is being made for. She miscarried 3 or 4 little ones before getting pregnant. So the angel bear represent her angels in Heaven. The little bear being held represents her little Johnathan who is due December 31st.

Finally my pansies. I have one more full flower to go and some buds. Also the basket and a butterfly. It is a freebie pattern from Janlynn. it will become a smalls pillow.

Another poem

With the winter weather here and in other parts of the country, I wanted to share another poem. i hope you guys like this one.

To a redbird

I think that I shall never see
A lovelier sight, redbird, than thee.
Your crimson beauty mid the snow
Just fills my heart to overflow.
You glitter just like a jewel most fair
As sunlight strikes you perching there
Upon the bough in silvery tree,
Your picture framed in filigree
By Jack Frost's magical design-
A living painting that is mine.
For one brief moment, then you're gone,
But your beauty lingers on and on.

Beverly J. Anderson

That You indeed are my help, and in the
shadow of Your wings I shout for joy

What I have been up too!

I have been a busy girl! Really I have! LOL! And not just being ornery either! I am making snowflakes to make into ornies. There will be six in total. Two of 3 different kind. then I will make these little felt snowmen. Next a I will make a bow on my bow-dabra. Add in Christmas greenery. Getting the idea? The goofy cat wreath is being remade for next year.

Next thing, here is a project I just finished. It is by mill hill. It called for lots of little flowers but I chose to use hearts and a star. Just cause I could! LOL! It will become a pillow. Then I got a pattern in the mail I had been waiting for from a friend. Isn't it the silliest thing?

I am now working on a basket of pansies. I will show those later. they will be made into a pillow also. Trying to keep myself out of trouble!

Ready for Christmas

Well thanksgiving is over. And as per are custom we decaorated for Christmas this weekend. This is the table cloth Jack made. his first experience with metallic threads. he didn't much like it but a little thread heaven helped. Wonder if that is why he got gray hair?

Here are the snowfolks. Along with my grandmothers church and her people. I treasure these. I am sorry you can't see the handmade snowman my Aunt made me in her last year of life. She had terminal cancer but she was still very active in church and hobbies as long as she could be. I promise to take a pic of my snowman.

Here is our little tree. With it's homemade and given goodies.

My goofy cat wreath. It will be undone and remade for next year. After 11 years with it, I have had enough!

This is the tree skirt I managed to finish. We always put our nativity set under the tree.

And here is poor katie-Bug! I think she barely survived thanksgiving. Poor baby!

Our thanksgiving day

I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful day yesterday. For our little family it was a nice day. Jack made an apple cake and cheesy cresent rolls. I made brocolli casserole and deviled eggs and sweet potato casserole. We both prepared old Mr. Turkey and put him in the electric roaster. Took us all day to so with our health but we did it. Of course we found time to cross stitch, watched a dog show and played a few games on pogo. The weather was so lovely it was awesome! Thank you Lord! We had temps in the 60's so of course Katie took me grasshopper hunting in the wilds of the back yard! LOL! I think all the goings on wore out poor Jack and Katie! Just look at them!

I am so thankful for the little blessings. A husband and dog who love me very much. Lots of friends here in cyperland. Beautiful days, quiet evenings and little walks outside. Hands to stitch with, laughter, the joy I feel at each new day pain or not! It is the small things in life that gives the most pleasure. God has been good to me.

Happy thanksgiving!

Happy thanksgiving to my American friends. For those friends in other countries not celebrating thanksgiving, God bless you! I am certain we all have plenty to be thankful for. So let that be your thought of the day, your blessings in life!

Hey and how do and all that jazz!

It is a lovely sunny day here in the ozarks! 61 degrees right now. Katie and I just came in from a hunting expedition! grasshoppers of course!!!! LOL! Ready for a day in the life of us hillbillies? Well here goes!

Mom is tired! Kinda feeling lazy! My word look at that hair! that stuff is flat and needs cut! Geez!!! Blue eyes aren't so bad! LOL!

Dad was in the hobby room playing games on pogo and enjoying a rare sweet treat! Gotta watch that blood sugar! Look at that smile! I think he's been up to something or having to much fun! Gonna have to keep my eye on him!

But look at this! I did finish Bitterest flower by Birds of a feather. I used DMC instead of the specialty ones called for. I want to make a couple snowflake ornies. You can just see them behind the other chart. I also plan on doing this mill hill one. So I have been busy! Oh and I have the tree skirt all ready to sew so we can put up our tree this weekend! Good girl for me! Well, I just can't leave you without a couple pics of Katie! Hugs!

A poem for you

Sunset

The sunset's like a fire in the sky-
Orange, gold, and amber-hued,
The day has come and gone
And rests brightly in the blue.
The sun-a reflecting light
On thoughts as the day closes.
Was today well-spent?
For soon the sun reposes...
The glow of day is fading
And soon will be past.
Have we made a memory
That will keep and last?
Embers of light glow softly,
Soon the sun will rest.
Did we add our light to the world?
Can we say, "I did my best?"
The glow of daylight closes,
soon stars will touch the skies.
The glory of God in the Heavens-
We'll have a new sunrise

Starrlette L. Howard

Look up to the skies and behold; regard the Heavens high above you. Job 35:5

A wonderful Thursday!

Oh but I had the most wonderful day yesterday! A dear friend who lives in Marshfield came to see us. This is no small feat for her as she suffers from MS along with other ailments. We have wanted to meet for so long and at last God saw fit to bring us together. We are like sisters! She goes by the mickname of Cherokee because she is native american. She has given many of her friends special names. She calls me tender of heart. I like that! I gave her homemade dishclothes I had crocheted and look at the lovely pillowcases she made for us. Plus she gave me an adorable little angel. Aren't they pretty? I told Jack at least now when I wake up I will know who I am! LOL! he says if he doesn't know who he is by then, the heck with it!!!!! Cherokee and I laughed and talked and hugged and held hands. We had a nice prayer together with our hubbies before we parted.
Now of course here is a silly picture of Katie-Bug!

Thank you all my friends **trigger**

So many of you have said such nice things about my mom and I appreciate it. Mom suffered from depression but yet she found joy in every day and I try to do the same. She could be a big kid herself and I am that way too. it was so hard when she passed away. Myself and my 6 year old brother were often left to fend for ourselves and I became like a mother to him. I was molested by a neighbor at this time. It was scary after being so cared for and loved by mom. My half brother went to live with family. When we moved closer to family, my grandmother retired early and did as much as she could for us kids. My brother and I had a lot of trouble as teenagers and young adults with drugs and alchol. At age 19 I was kidnapped, attacked, and left for dead. That was the beginning of the turning point for me. I met my current hubby who helped me a lot and started taking me to church. I became a Christian woman and prayer has helped me deal with illness and grief and all the other stuff. The emotional issues and scars from that are a work in progress. I will never be completly free of my mental or physical illnesses but that is okay. Sometimes that is how God uses us to help others. I would never go through all I have been through again, but it has made me who I am. I like to think that I am mostly a good person who loves the people I have met on here. I want to share with others, bring a smile and help someone find the joy in each day. I choose to use the bad that has happened to me as good to help someone else. I am changed by what has happened but I love my life!

Personality test

Well, this was interesting. Not sure if I totally agree with it all but a lot of it is true. it was fun anyway.

Wednesday update!

Well, it is raining, windy and chilly today! But I am NOT complaining! We so badly need the rain. Of course Katie is afraid she'll melt in this weather so she doesn't want to go out to do her chores. Jack is trying now to get her to cooperate! Good luck!!! I believe it is a chicken and dumplin' kind of day so I believe that is what will be on the menu for supper.

Now to my stitching, this is my progress this week. Not to bad! I call my little bee Snozzle bee because of his nose or whatever that is! The one thing that kinda bugged me was that there is no "h" in the small alphabet at the top. I thought about adding it but decided that was part of the charm of it and all. Have a blessed day all!

Thank you mom contest

My mom, dad, half brother Steve and me

Visit this blog for a contest honoring moms. http://chaotichome.blogspot.com/ It is a wonderful contest with neat prizes! Here is my story!
My mother was my best friend and comforter. At age 4 I was expected to die from a birth defect for which they could do nothing. My mom doctored me and cared for me. I managed to live long enough for a new surgery to come along that saved my life. There were fun times too. After mom waxed the floors, she and I would do the twist in our sock feet! What fun! There was also taffy pulling at Christmas. She made the holidays special. My parents had violent fights and mom tried to shield us kids from it. She was our staunch defender and protector. Her kids were her main thing in life and we were unconditionally loved. She passed away when I was nine after the stillbirth of my youngest brother. It tore me up but she taught me valuable lessons. Enjoy the simple things, judge people for what is inside, have fun, and love life no matter what.

You'll love this park!

Our weekend!

Well, we have had a good weekend. We took Katie for a walk in the park, did lots of cross stitching and said good bye to a neighbor. That part is not good. But he needs to be closer to his parents who are elderly and in failing health. He has a little dog named Spike that is just the sweetest little thing. He and Katie adore each other! Katie has another friend next door named mandy but she likes Spike lots better! Any wonder why? LOL! Also, here is Jack's progress on his baby quilt and my little bit of progress on mine. Spike's human dad's name is Allen.

Another finish and a blustery day!

Well, I finished my kats n' hats last night. It came out pretty well I think. Now I am on to another project. I am just a cross stitching machine here lately and having lots of fun.

Today was quite a day! Yesterday we broke two records for weather. One was the warmest day in November at 83 and it was also the record for that particular day. This morning started out pleasant enough. It was in the upper 60's but now it has fallen into the 40's and there is a tornado watch to the east of us. Gotta love that crazy Missouri weather. Seemed like a good day for soup so I made us a big old pot of it. tonight we will enjoy a cup of hot tea I am sure.

Another finish!

Well, I finished my Country good Morning. Took right at two weeks to do. It was so fun! I am also nearing the end on the Kats n' hats. Didn't think to take a pic of it though.

Today is just gorgeous here in Missouri! Tons of sunshine and 80 degrees!!! This old hillbilly was running around barefoot. I hate shoes!!!! LOL! But it will cool off again by Friday. Such is fall in the ozarks. if you don't like the weather, wait a minute it'll change. Blessings to you all!

Nice surprise today

I was sitting in here reading e mails and checking my forums. I heard the UPS truck pull up and though what in the world? I didn't order anything. Then in walks Jack with a long box from a dear friend in PA. I have known her since 2003. We have never met but we are so very close like sisters. We have talked on the phone and chat now and again. She is one of a handful of ladies I have become fast friends with here on the internet. The world still has many good people in it.

Just a little note!

I have so many wonderful blogs I love to read that I have made a change in one area. Instead of trying to hit them all in one day, I do a few every day Monday thru Friday. I don't want to rush through any of them! You guys mean that much to me. I am slow at comprehending what I read so that helps me in this area too. loves ya all! Michelle

Another project!

Well, I got over my grumpies pretty quickly Wednesday. I thought about it and prayed about it and you know what? Things could be a lot worse than losing a scarecrow! So that is the lesson I learned for the day! See, you can teach and ole hillbilly a new trick!! LOL! Wednesday was just one of those days where you want to crawl back in bed and stay there!
Well, I want to share a pic of my next project with you. I am going to do it for a friend of mine. She is part of the red hat ladies and loves it so much. So when I saw this chart on clearance a few weeks back I knew I had to get it. It is so cute! Oh and I plan on finishing a plastic canvas project of a scarecrow. it is made to hang on the door and says Autumn Greetings.

It's a grumpy day!

Okay, right off I will admit I am G-R-U-M-P-Y!!!!! No two ways about it. First I hit my hand on the footboard of the bed the other night and really bruised it good. It hurts!!! So boo-hoo it's a pity party!!! Then I go out to take katie for a walk and Herbert the scarecrow is gone! They came right up to the front door and took him. Now I am mad!!!! Steam is coming from my ears! Then on our walk, Katie is being difficult. She barked and bristled at an elderly couple. To top it off she wouldn't listen to me when I told her to hush. A little tap on the nose got my point across. Later in the walk, she decided to pull out of her collar and do her own thing! One look at mom's unhappy face and she soon forgot THAT idea! She sat down and waited for me to put her collar on. After that she about dragged me home so she could sulk under her afghan. That was funny! Poor mistreated dog! Oh and yes, I do have an update on my stitching! Ta da!!!! I am almost done! so by for now from not quite as grumpy little ole me!
