The random test!

My groovy friend has given me some random questions to answer! If anything offends you, so sorry but I answered honestly as I feel! Told her I would post it tomorrow but here it is for today!

1. If you could have Mavis the Maid (She comes very highly recommended) on a consistant basis, which one household/cleaning chore would you be thrilled to get out of doing?
That would have to be cleaning the oven!

2. Tell us the truth: Have you ever broken the law? What did you do?
The worst I have done is get a ticket for being in a turn lane and NOT turning! OOPs!

3. Have you ever embarassed yourself in front of a crowd? What happened?
Yep. My panty hose gave out and almost ended up around my ankles! I managed to beat a hasty retreat to the little girls room! LOL!

4. You've selected a stunning new outfit to wear to an important event. Time is running short. You are rushing to get dressed and suddenly realize that said outfit absolutely DOES NOT fit. What do you do?
I would just put it away and find something else in my closet to wear!

5. Hey...Lucky You! You get to be the President of the United States for one entire week. Any changes you make will become a permanent part of American history. What are the top-three items on your to-do list?
First, I would do away with abortion. Second, I would find alternatives to oil to help cut our dependency on it. Third, I would try to find a way for everyone to have health care.

Stitching away!

I have been a busy girl! In between digging around the flowerbeds and rocking on the porch, I have found plenty of time to stitch. I am getting close to the halfway point on my wedding sampler. I think though I will take a couple days away from it and work on one of the others. Yes, I want to get done but I don't want to get to the point I make a lot of mistakes like I did recently.

Stitching updates!

Well, we are both stitching away again. Here is Jack's project. I really love the butterflies and flowers as well as the verse on it.

Here is my progress on my sampler. Not much done on it.

Got a little bit done on Middie too.

Making headway on the wedding one but I spent most of last night tearing out a mistake! I am caught up again now and I hope there won't be anymore problems!

What have the sew n' sews been up to?

Well, Jack bought a 35 dollar mower and mowed our little yard. Now it looks better! The doctor told him to get more exercise and this should be plenty. He is in a lot of pain after mowing though!

And unfortunately, the door took a hit when he was mowing. Now we need a new piece of glass!

The hummingbird feeder is in place! Now where are those little dickens? LOL!

Jack bought me an angel at the dollar store! Isn't she pretty? She is setting on the porch by my front door!

Katie rested.

Katie slept.

Katie played with her toys!

The bathroom curtains are half finished. Doesn't that look funny?

One door curtain is completely hung. Only need the bottom rod on the other!
And that is our week! Not a lot of cross stitching done though! But I should have update pictures for you by weeks end! have an awesome weekend!

What a weekend!

This is what we woke up to Saturday morning! Fortunately it was gone by noon. On Friday we got around 3 inches of rain and had thunderstorms. With all that rain, our roof sprung a leak. Mel, the landlord is planning on having it replaced and now that timetable has been pushed up with a leak happening. But that isn't the worse thing that happened this weekend. We ran out of hot water Saturday and just figured the hot water tank had went out. Well, it didn't! Our basement was so flooded it had put out the pilot light! So this morning, Mel had to go and buy a sump pump to get the water out of the basement. It took all afternoon as the water was just past ankle deep! Now tomorrow Mel will have to clean out the burner and relight the tank! We found out what caused the basement to flood. Someone had run a cable in through the old coal shoot door which of coursed caused it to be open a couple inches. With the unusually high rain, it just poured right in there. Well, Jack has fixed that problem by removing the cable and the door will be sealed shut and the ground regraded away from it. So that has been our fun weekend.

This is how Katie spent most of her weekend. It was so lovely today though she did get two walks which made her very happy!

And lastly, here is my progress on the wedding sampler. It is about 3 days worth of work. Not much done on it today or Friday. But I am getting there!

What a great week!

This has been a wonderful week for all kinds of goodies! First, a friend of ours sent us this adorable little lamp for a housewarming present! It is one of those touch lamps and I think it is so cute!

Then my dear friend sent me this cute little goodie in an Easter card. Pea from Pea's Corner made it. i just adore it. Don't know if my hands are steady enough to do that!

And then this arrived from Germany from my friend Barbara! She makes these gorgeous cards! I am honored she made one for me!

And here is a new project! I have a friend I have known for a few months now. She is a precious Christian lady and just got married in March. Her new husband, sadly has ALS. They only give him a few months to live. Here they are. Don't you love what the cake says? She is known as Ma and writes the most wonderful e mails to many folks every day. Thomas wanted to be called Mrs' Ma! LOL! He is a riot! Please pray for this sweet couple. I love them both so much!

Here is a wedding sampler I am making for them. Please pray that I get it done quickly so Thomas can enjoy it for as long as God sees fit to let him remain with us here on earth!

I have been working on it for a day and have this much done. I think it will go quickly as nothing is outlined and it is not complicated at all.

The move!

Here is a little story mostly in pictures of our move! Poor Katie! So tired after SHE did all that packing!

Come on dad! I want to ride in the big truck. Katie was ready to get that truck back after she unloaded it!

Why do I look so grumpy? Didn't mean to! LOL! Katie and I were pretending to drive the big truck!

Katie goes balistic at the gas station! She enjoyed the ride with dad but wanted her mommy! LOL! Fickle hound!

How can Jack still be smiling after all that moving? I think he was glad it was over. Well, at least the move was. But my word all that unpacking to do!

An exhausted katie. I think we worked her to hard but she was so glad to see her sofa. Now for a good nap.

How do you like my fancy window shirt? I haven't had time to make a bathroom curtain yet so this will do! Anything for a little privacy and it works quite well.

We had a few glitches in our move but all in all it went well. The weather was nice and warm when we loaded but by that night it was in the 30's and was pretty chilly unloading the next day. We had a little trouble getting the freezer and sofa in and that was frustrating. Then dish network put our hookup off for a week which frustrates poor Jack. Lastly, the landlord had to have our washer repaired today so we could do laundry. Let me tell you it was just about to become a mountain of laundry! LOL! But we are in and love our house so everything is great!

Celebrating life

Bubba Joe 6-26-1997 to 3-26-2004

This article is my submission to the blog challenge sponsored by Art Bookbindery, "Empowering Writers to Self Publish." This Article is in celebration of life reflecting upon the Resurrection of Jesus.
Perhaps it might seem funny to write such an article based upon a pet. I do hope you will take the time to read it before you pass judgement.
This story starts on a cool October morning in 1997. We drove nearly two hours to get a little dachshund puppy that no one else wanted. You see this 4 month old puppy was missing most of his tail and had digestive trouble and a slight heart murmur. Simply put, no one even wanted him except for my husband and I! We took home the terrified 5 pound puppy that day. You see he stole my husbands heart and mine to if I admit it. And I gladly will! That day the lesson in life started!
We named him Bubba Joe and he soon settled in and took over our lives, our home and our hearts! Not a day went by that this little guy didn't at least bring a smile to our faces! He faced life with gusto and lived it with a lot of enthusiasm! Even when he scattered laundry from one end of the house to the next, you couldn't stay upset very long with him!
There were many funny moments with this little guy! Once he stole Jack's Bologna sandwich, another he stole a cookie from me! That was just his personality, to see what he wanted and to go for it! I could go on and on with the stories of the funny, silly things Bubba did but let me get to the point of my story.
I learned a lot from this little guy. Let me tell you about them! Bubba loved the little things in life. A ride in the car, visiting folks in a nursing home, chasing squirrels in the yard. He also showed me that just because you aren't well or just because you are considered disabled, you sure don't have to live like it! With all the challenges this little dog faced, he still lived each and every day to it's fullest and he was joyful most days too. Only on the really bad days would you even know he was not a well dog.
I have strived to be like Bubba! To be joyful even when my day is not joyful, to be enthusiastic about life, to live each moment as if there is no tomorrow. I find the greatest joy in the small things now, and I know that even though the world calls me disabled, I am not! I may be differently-abled but I still love life and there is much I can do! I can pray, I can bring a smile to someones face, I can laugh and joke and live my life with gusto! I can help someone in need in some little way too.
You see, life is not always what we planned, but it can be full and happy even if you have to work at it some days. With all it's pain, heartache and trouble, we should celebrate life and enjoy it! It is a wonderful gift we were given! Don't waste it complaining or saying "I can't" There is always something you can do to enjoy life and make it full. So live it with gusto like Bubba did!
Let me end my story this way. Bubba died of liver failure after a 3 week battle trying to get better. Even though he was so ill, he still lived his life to the fullest up until that last day. He chased a squirrel one last time on the day he passed! May my life also be filled with that much enthusiasm even on my final day! I want to celebrate life and living every day I possibly can!

Good Monday morning!

Here is a little tree behind th duplex! I thought it was very pretty. Thought you might like to see it too! And I have made progress on my stitching too!I am 25% done on Life's Lesson and about 40% done on Middie. With all that is going on, I am surprised I got so much done! May not be much stitching done this week.

We are moving tomorrow and I will be offline probably until the 6th. I will have lots to catch up on because I haven't had much chance to read any blogs today. I miss that a lot. Believe me I will get some if not all of them read today. So if you don't see a comment from me that is why. Look forward to seeing you later this week! Oh and I tried a little different layout on this post. Don't like it so back to my old way of doing it!
