Monday storms

Monday morning we had terrible storms. At ten in the morning it was as dark as dusk. The lightening and thunder were terrible. By the time it quit raining around noon, we had had 5 inches of rain. A creek a couple blocks south of us went over the road but that was nothing compared to downtown. I DID NOT TAKE THE PHOTOS.
One of our downtown businesses had water coming out from beneath the windows.
This business was flooded.
Our poor park!
The problem is that downtown is the lowest part in town and the park is the lowest of that. They really need to do something to fix the problem but no one has yet. Maybe this will get them to do something. We even had water pouring down a very steep street next to the pool in such quantities it was running into the pool. So that was how our week started.
There were tornadoes south and east of us with some building damage and power loss but praise God no one was killed. Until next time, God bless.

My goodness Michelle, this all looks like a nightmare!! So pleased that you are OK and that nobody was killed by this . The weather is pretty freaky at the moment!

Take care :)

I'm glad you and your family have not been flooded. We have several areas around here that flood every time there is a big rain.

My heart goes out to everyone affected by the flood.

Love your cross stitches :)

oh Michelle, this is terrible.
Are you both okay in your home?
This sure has been a rough weather year for so many people.

Flooding is a terrible thing to live through - we had the Big THompson flood in 1976, and ten years ago the campus where I work was decimated - $100 million worth of damage.

Hi! Hope you all are ok and that the town is getting itself back together. So far we haven't had much, but tornado season is under way. We had a watch tonight, but only a little rain fell. Love you guys a whole bunch!

It's so hard to watch such massive flooding! Our country is really getting slammed, but so far people have been good neighbors and generous. Hope you are feeling better. (Both of)your stitching work is so lovely!

Hope you and your home were kept safe from the flooding. Hopefully the town will get back to normal soon and something can be done to keep this from happening again.

Goodness! I hate to see flood pictures. I know how much work is involved in cleaning it up. I grew up in Nebraska and our local creek jumped its banks several times. Luckily the people that built our house graded the yard in such a manner that even at its highest crest, the water was an inch from our front porch. (My parents had planned to take all the dips and mounds out of the yard until they discovered its purpose.) Believe it or not, water never got in the basement, it was dry as a boneand it was a dirt cellar. I spent two days picking up all the cut firewood that my neighbor had stacked along his alley. It had floated down to the baseball fields and a lot of it was stuck along the fence line and in the bleachers.

I'm just glad to hear that no one was hurt.

We had that same storm, Michelle, and we received 5" the first day and another 5" the second day. Highway 51 which runs through Coweta had to be shut down for a time on both ends of town. I had to drive to Tulsa, right in the middle of this a 2 p.m. to pick up my grandson from school and go through just before they closer down the highway!!! MANY in Coweta were flooded and The Red Cross set up temporary shelter in our Church for those. We were, and are, blessed that we had no damage. Glad to hear you two are safe and sound, too.

wow those were bad storms. That is the one thing about spring time I do not like. More storms heading our way this week.
Thursday, when it was dark and dreary, they tested the tornado sirens and scared me to pieces. I think they should only test those things on SUNNY days
Glad you folks are o.k.

Dearest Michelle,

Omigosh, look at all the flooding! I always feel so badly for all the people it affects. Hopefully it's now all dried up. We had so much snow and there were fears of flooding if it melted too fast but so far it's melting slowly so the drains are able to handle it.

Stay safe and take care of YOU!! xoxo

We survived a flood in 97. So these pictures bring back a lot of memoires. Pray that you all stay safe and that you do not have any damage come to your home.

Blessings,
~Martie
