Stitching towards Christmas

Jack and I are pretty low key at Christmas and don't even always buy presents for one another.  We bought each other a little something this year.  I love the colors he picked out in the crochet thread.

Here are the doilies I am working on this week.  I actually finished up the white one tonight.  Sorry the first is a bit blurred.

Have a blessed Christmas!  Huggles.

How about more doilies and Sylvia fun?

Well most of our snow and ice are gone now.  It was slickery looking out there for several days!  We stayed safely tucked inside and enjoyed our hobbies.

Here are some potholders I made as a present for a friend.  she likes bright colors so I think these will do the trick.

Here is my little blue doily.  I had to put him aside today until after payday so I can get some more thread.

Here is the smallest white doily.  I put the larger one aside for a week because I am having issues finishing the last couple rows.  Two blows to the back of my head and a stroke in my thirties left me with headaches and memory issues.  I will get it finished though!

Lastly the little multi colored doily.

Sylvia and I were having a tug of war with her yarn and I got this fun shot of her!

Crochet, kitties and snow!

Well we had quite the weather Thursday and Friday with a lot of sleet and then a good amount of snow.  We love the snow but could do without the sleet.  Lots of schools and businesses closed and lots of churches closed this weekend.  Here was the view out our front door.

Now on to the crochet.  The first one I am showing is a couple rows from being done.  I could have finished it up but needed a break.

The smaller white one is coming along well also with about nine or ten rows to go.

Here is the parakeet one.  Not sure how many rows left on it but the pattern is so easy it goes quickly.

Jack treated me to more thread so I bought three spools to make a large doily.  The color is called Monet and it is really pretty.  I just had to start something with it!

Oh dear me poor Sylvia!  Passed out waiting for mom to dish out a couple treats!

Busy, busy crocheting!

Yes, I have been keeping busy crocheting!  My beloved Jack and I, and of course Sylvia, are always home on holidays so I can keep right on having fun!  Here is the first doily I have been working on.  It is called Starflower.

I work about two days on each one and then switch.  Here is the next one I rotate to.  It is called Splendor On the Table and is the largest of the three.

Last, but not least is one called Goldstar.  It is the smallest I believe.

Well, I think we need a Sylvia moment.  She is trying to be invisible under the jacket and also loves to hide there when we play with the laser light.

Ready for Sylvia kitty fun?

It's been pretty cold out and sometimes slick so staying close to home.  Lots of crochet and enjoying Sylvia's antics.  I have been working on hotpads and doilies and added a new doily to the mix.  Here are the hotpads and another will join them and go to their new home.

This is the latest doily to be added in.  The pattern is called Goldstar and the thread is Aunt Lydia's in parakeet.  I love the blue!

Some progress on one of the other doilies as well.  Actually a good bit of work.

Now for a laugh at Sylvia.  Sometimes I give her a little left over yarn and let her have some fun.  We play tug of war and I then decided to hang it on the chair which she is really enjoying!

At last sylvia pics and crochet too!

I managed to finish a doily yesterday and ironed it today.  I still love the soft green.  Here it is.

I am close on this next one.  About 10 rows to go I think.  It is slow going as some of the rows are a bit intricate.

I also am working on a little one called Starflower.  I don't think it will take too long to do.

Finally at last I have some pictures of sylvia.  Love the look in the one and had some fun with filters on the other.

Happily crocheting away!

First let me show you the moon last evening peeking thru the clouds.  I think he and I were playing peek a boo!

I currently have 3 doilies going switching whenever the mood strikes me.  One is nearly done with only 3 rows to go so I will finish it.  It is the green one here.

This one is well along but still has quite a bit to go on it.

And I just started on this little fella.

I am also working on some potholders that were a free pattern. I am having a blast trying different color combos.    http://www.freecraftunlimited.com/print/flower-hot-pad.html

Making some changes.

Yep, changes and I do hope you will all stick with me thru it.  I will be going back to my favorite craft, crochet, and spending much less time cross stitching.  One reason is the cost of fabric and patterns and the other is that I have always loved crochet the most.  For now no cross stitch at all and just crochet.  I will be going thru patterns and giving some away also.  The last few weeks I have really struggled to stay engrossed in my cross stitching but it has been an ongoing thing for some time now.  I want to get involved in making hats for needy folks and chemo patients, prayer shawls, lap robes for seniors and lots and lots of doilies.  I need to replenish my yarn and thread stocks as well.  But now onto some projects!

Here is a doily I made some time ago.  I love the lavender shade.

I am working on two projects right now.  Both are by Elizabeth Hiddleson.  The first is called wheat stalk and I can not remember the name of the other.

I also have pulled out two other spools for more doilies.

Let me share something my grandmother used to make.  She made simple doilies, sewn together with the front one folded down a bit and had she finished these they would have a little bow to hold the flap down, then she added pencil and a small notepad to keep by your phone.  I suppose now one could tuck the cell phone in!

Here is a pile of afghans on a chair in the living room. One will never get cold here!

Lastly, here is Miss Sylvia enjoy a snooze on the sofa when Jack had to lay on the floor.

Happily sewing away!

It has been a bit of a hectic week but that seldom stops my stitching!  I started a doily as well but first my little sampler.

Now here is the start on the doily!  It is one by my favorite designer Elizabeth Hiddleson.

Remember the Celtic cross stitch pattern I told you about?  I think i forgot to mention it is from a book called Celtic Art by Barbara Hmmond.  Not sure if it is still in print as I have had it for some time.  I hope to start on it soon.

Jack was messing with his remote control helicopter and Sylvia joy thought it quite fasinating.  My camera was acting up so excuse the bad picture.

Thanks for the visit.  huggles and blessings.
