A crochet finish & stitching too

Been at work doing blue and more blue!

A close up of the area of her dress I am working on.

I finished up my persimmon colored doily last night.  I like the way it came out.

Poor tired sleepy Sylvia!

And goofy Sylvia fighting a toy mouse!

Waiting patiently for us to return today.

A few pictures from our outing around town today.

Wintery Weather Stitching

First to answer a question about Sylvia.  I was asked how she got her name.  The shelter had named her Sylvia and since we adopted her on my late mother's birthday (November 18) we decided to give her the second name of Joy which was my mother's name.  Now you all know!

I got busy on my Winter's Song piece!  It is coming along nicely.

I also started another crochet piece.  This will be large enough to cover most or all of my dining table.

Jack has even been able to cross stitch a bit and is working on his quilt pieces.  Often his legs cause him to much pain to cross stitch any more so model building has become his greater hobby.

Does anyone know this furry little house ape?  Look at those eyes!  Sylvia tickles me!

Here is our girl last night getting some Dad love!

Wednesday we had beautiful snow which was wonderful to watch and enjoy!

Wednesday night we had thunderstorms and Thursday was full of sleet and rain!

Thanks for visiting!  Blessings and huggles.

Cross stitch, doilies & Sylvia!

Well, I have finished the little bird on the limb and started on the lower edge of her dress.

Mostly I have been going to town on this doily.  It really isn't this orange in person and no amount of editing on my part will show the actual nice persimmon color!

I really got Sylvia going yesterday and here are the results!

Thanks for the visit!  Blessings and huggles.

A happy, busy couple days

It has taken us a week, but we have finished Jack's workbench save for doing one drawer.  It will sure make things like building models easier for him.

A dear friend sent me a stash of threads and this persimmon color was calling out to be a doily.  So a doily it shall be!

Do you like my little hedgehog?  I am not 100% happy with it but it is still cute.

And a little snail too.  The snails are so quick and easy to do, I will do lots of them to give out to kids.

Nothing like a nap in the sun for our girl!

Discovered my yarn she did!  LOL!  No harm done.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.  Blessings and huggles.

Where was I the last 5 days?

Actually after an "us" trip on Tuesday there were plenty of errands to run and housecleaning to do so I lost track of time!  LOL!  Here are some pictures.  This is inside a store in Rogers AR called "the Rabbit's Lair"  They have some wonderful quilt and yarn items.

A beautiful home just around the corner from the shop.

Jack and I sat here and had lunch overlooking part of Beaver Lake.  So relaxing!

We stopped at Hobb's State Park to visit the Van winkle homestead site and mill.  Jack was having a gout flair up so I went down there alone.  It was very interesting!  I have added a link with much more pictures and info than I can give here.  Van Winkle Project

We next went to War Eagle Mill not far away and enjoyed the sights there.  This is their link  War Eagle Mill

Fully restored bridge at War Eagle Mill.

This is the Blackburn home at war Eagle Mill.  I couldn't get a picture but the original log cabin is behind it.

Now on to stitchy stuff.  I have been rooting around to find yarn to make some of these critters from a book Jack got for me at Wal-Mart a while back.

I am happy to say the pink blob birds now really do look like birds on  Winter's Song.  yes, I did call it Winter's Joy last time but I was wrong.  Hard to believe but true!  LOL!

I tried to get the sparkles to show up but no luck!

And here is our girl napping in the sun.

Winter's Joy and Sylvia too!

Finally started on my Precious Moment's piece.  I started with Winter's Joy.  It may not look like it but the pink blobs will be birds in the snow.  I plan to use the thread you see there for a little extra sparkle and later a few snowflakes.  I also am using B5200 instead of white for the snow and all.  of course when the charts came out in 1987 they didn't have that.
I plan to do some crochet with my cross stitching and I will be doing just one cross stitch piece at a time.

Here is Sylvia Joy rolling around and being a nut on her kitten tree!

Thanks for the visit.  Blessings and huggles.

Big post for me!

I was given a lovely compliment on my stitches looking so lovely and also asked if I ever had to tear out and redo stitches.  I must say heartily that yes, i do make mistakes and have to rip out.  Sometimes I make such a huge mistake I have to tear out nearly half of what I have done!

I have decided to work on these Precious Moments girls for my next project.  I have the fabric I will use with them.  One change is with the Autumn one as I will kool-aid dye it with yellows and oranges to go a bit better.

Here is my first finish for the year!  I finished it up tonight.  It was a pleasant stitch!

We had a beautiful sunset this evening.

Silly Sylvia after we had played for a bit.
