6 weird things about me

Okay, Meari is picking on me! LOL!!! This is a meme that was on her blog at Meari's Musings.
I have to pick 6 people to do the same thing! So be very afraid, you might be it! LOL! Here goes!

1. I talk to inanimate things. Computer, t.v. etc. The t.v. it is usually at the people who aren't doing what I think they should! The computer because it is annoying me!

2. I am afraid of ventriloquist's dummies! I know it is silly but I just don't like those things!

3. When I am unable to sleep, I roam the dark house or sit in the dark and pray.

4. At age 47 I am still afraid to be home by myself at night. And I rarely go anywhere after dark even with my hubby! (I was attacked late at night as a young adult.)

5. When I was able to work, I used to sing while I cleaned. Call me the singing housekeeper! LOL!

6. I still like to do coloring books!

There you go! Once again proving that I am not normal or right in the head--and proud of it. So here are my victims who must do the same thing.

This is the latest picture of my project. I have actually gotten farther since I took this picture. The word love is now finished and all the vines and flowers on this side. I am now on the last half of the design. But I wanted you to see the progress. Thanks for looking!

What kind of puppy are you?

I thought this was amusing! Considering Jack and I use to be owned by doxies!

You Are a Dachshund Puppy

Loyal and playful - with a good hunting instinct.

You sometimes go a little crazy and need to chase down a rabbit or two.

Just popping on to see if you are out there somewhere! LOL! Hope everyone is having an awesome weekend. We are but man it is cold and windy. This morning we had rain, sleet and snow. Guess it just didn't know what it wanted to do. Needless to say, katie and I took our walk this afternoon. It was a bit warmer and no more snow but that wind just cuts right through you! I have been getting plenty of stitching done. I am on the second half of my project now. Reckon it won't be much longer. I hope to have it finished before we move. I will work on small projects until then. Just don't want to start another big one right now. have an awesome evening and day.

My current wip!

I really have been stitching this past week a little. As a refresher, it is called "Happy Home" and is from e patterns central. It is being done on a piece of luguna that i coffee stained. It is a big piece at nearly 24 by 10 inches but is a really easy stitch. The verse will say "A happy home is built on love" I hope to get a lot more stitching done this week.

Katie goes to Kansas!

All of us went to Kansas Thursday and Friday to look at a house to rent. We just can't afford the rent here anymore. Plus we are paying good money for this duplex and can never get them to fix anything. Jack had to repair the screen door after we waited for over a month. Now with last weekends storms we only have two outlets that work in the kitchen because the GFI outlet was blown out. When Jack said something to them they said that they would fix it if they could find a maintenance man! WHATEVER!!! Here is the victorian cottage we will be renting. We aren't moving until April and the landlord needs that time to repair some things. We gave him an ernest deposit and he has already given us the keys!! I can not believe it! Plus I can paint and decorate to my hearts content!

Here is the living room.

Our bedroom with a door to it's own porch!

Part of the kitchen. I know it doesn't look like a lot of storage but we have a huge pantry on the other side so it is plenty!

The dining room. It has a vaulted ceiling that extends into the kitchen. I hate the light though! UGLY!

We have tons of closets and storage plus another bedroom we will use as an office/hobby room. There are pocket doors dividing the living room from the dining room and one dividing our bedroom from the dining room. Yes, it did meet with Katie's approval! Graceful me managed to embarrass myself! I slipped and fell on ice getting into the car. No harm done as I landed on a big mound of snow and ice that was dang near up to my hind end anyway! I didn't much like the wet britches though! Jack thinks he is funny too! He is calling me Dorothy and Katie Dodo instead of Toto! Ha, ha Jack! We stopped and saw my cousin who lost his son last month and our neice Tina on the way home yesterday. We were all plum tuckered out but it was a good trip!

Weekend ice storm

Several states experienced a terrible ice storm this weekend. This is in my hometown. It came in 3 waves starting Friday morning with rain and warm temps. By suppertime it was freezing rain. At 9 the lights began to flicker and we knew what was coming and prepared to hunker down. At midnight the lights went out. They came back on for 4 hours Saturday afternoon and were out again before seven that evening. But it allowed the house to warm back up. They were out until they came back on for about an hour Sunday night again allowing the house to warm some. Finally Monday about one in the afternoon they came on for good so far! We are praying they stay on! By friday night in this surrounding area, 100,000 homes and businesses were without power, by Saturday night it was around 200,000 and by Sunday around 300,000. I am pleased to say that that number is coming down all the time and is back around the 100,000 mark. Many small towns are nearly 100% without power. Our landlord opened up a duplex with a fireplace for those without to stay warm. Many restaurants offered free meals to people and there was a lot of folks going out of their way to help others. There were very little incidents of people behaving badly which is not unexpected here in the Ozarks! We did lose our refrigerator stuff which wasn't a lot. Our meats were in the freezer in the garage and they survived nicely! Please continue to pray for all the states hit with this storm! Now here is a funny story! Tame turkeys are known for being really stupid! A lady told about one of hers that sat in the tree during the storm. Well, he ended up with his feet frozen to the tree! He didn't have the sense to realize he needed to come out of the tree! They had to pour lukewarm water on his feet to get him off of there! Dumb bird! LOL!

Major ice storms!

Well we have just come through a rough weekend! But it could have been worse! I will post about it later with pics and all and even some humor! God blessed us in this time of natural disaster! Please keep Missouri in your prayers!

A bit of progress!

Look at the poor sleepy hound! Actually she has been a sick girl and had to go to the vet monday! She has an ear infection and is on antibiotics for 3 weeks and will finish her steriods tomorrow. Her poor ear was so swollen and red they had to give her the steriods to help with that. Today she is feeling sassy and bright eyed and full of herself!

I did manage to get a bit done on my project. Slow going though! It has been one of those weeks! Lots of appointments and getting ready for a trip. We are going to move to Fort Scott Kansas in April so we have to go see our new home we are renting. Can you believe the landlord is holding it until then? We need to move as the rent is going up here and we can't afford it! Fort Scott was the closest we could find for decent rent we could afford. It is about 150 miles from here and is my old stomping grounds. My home town is just a short drive away in Missouri.

Staining fabric and a new project

Here is a piece of luguna I coffee stained last night. I was sooooo worried it was going to be too dark and mottled. But it came out good. I wish the mottling showed up better. It is subtle just as I had hoped!

This is the project going on it. I purchased the pattern from e patterns central. I thought it looked a bit victorian so that is why I stained the fabric. So that it would look old. I debated whether to stain the fabric and floss or just the fabric. Decisions, decisions!

Here are some finsihed small pillows. You had seen the finished cross stitch but not the finished pillows. They were fun to do!

And finally let's have a laugh at Katie! Not satisfied with her cover, she pulled down the afghan and her jacket and made herself into a burrito! She looks like a frog in a hail storm! LOL!
