Saturday Stitching

Well, I finally started on my cross stitch. Not a big start but a start. I must say I am rather proud of my french knots. Now I have been cross stitching since I was nine and I am fifty six now but french knots just do not like me! I can do really nice ones with candlewick though. So far I have done some decent ones on this project. The fabric in the picture is actually a soft green. Not a good picture at all.
We had a lovely sunset the other day.
Here is Miss Sylvia enjoying a belly rub.
And hiding her eyes for a nap.

Just a little post and a new cross stitch

I am putting aside my Rosewood Manor piece for a bit. I have had a 9 x 12 inch piece of aida for some time and have never found anything I wanted to put on it. But I have finally decided this will do.
I also gathered up some varigated yarn bits the other day for a little hexagon afghan. I am sticking with deeper and darker mostly colors. Just wanting to use up some bits.
The tablecloth is also still going very well. I managed two and a bit more rows yesterday. Might have had more but Monday is often our deep cleaning day. Sorry no picture of the tablecloth. Not really enough change in it yet. I do have some Sylvia pictures! We interrupted her tummy washing here.
Dad was throwing her toys at her the other day.
And just being her cute self. Yes she has another crochet hook to play with.

All finished!

I got both capes finished. I forgot to take a picture of the blue one but here is mine with it's buttons.
Been playing with granny squares as well. Might as well use up some leftovers. The "blue" square is really a teal not blue but no one told the camera that!
And started another bookmark too.
And I am finished with the fourth of six pineapples on the tablecloth and just preparing to start the stem for the sixth as I finish up the fifth. That sounded confusing! LOL!
Here is the lamp I bought awhile back. I repainted it in a bit softer red. Jack put a shiney topcoat on then he rewired it and it is happily sitting now on my sewing desk.
Jack was tormenting Sylvia with her toys.
And as always, washing the acreage!

Crochet and Jack's Cross Stitching

I have done nothing as of yet with my cross stitch repair. Best to sit it aside for a bit. But Jack has been cross stitching away on pillowcases.
I played with a square pattern for a future afghan. I wanted to see what size it would be with a sport weight yarn. It came out to ten inches which means 48 squares would make a very nice size blanket! I love this pattern by Joyce Lewis. I can not think of the name of the square right now.
We had a "sundog" the other day. Tried to take a picture but it did not quite work out.
I just love the few on top of the hill when we pay our rent! That is Lake Fayetteville in the background.
Yesterday Sylvia Joy was plum full of herself and wanted to beat up crochet hooks, yarn and toys!

Of course, that called for a nap!

I could Just Cry!

Well, I found the source of my trouble with the border. It about makes me want to cry! There is an area on the bottom with only three stitches when it should be four. See it on the right?
Which means a whole bunch of tearing out. Everything on the right of it up to the middle.
Oh well, onto happier news. I am making good progress on my shawl.
And I finished the eyes on a hoot owl. I used a couple of my grandmother's old buttons.
And I did a little bookmark this morning. Need to finish in ends and add the fringe on one end.
I love the way this crochet thread looks on the spool. It will be another bookmark.
This little stinker stole my crochet hook and stuffed it between the cushions. Yes, it was on purpose, and everytime I tried to get it out I got a slap on my hand! Look at that ornery face!
And just being cute!

Lots of crochet!

First let me say on my cross stitch piece, nothing is wrong with the pattern. I just think I was to eager to finish it and kept goofing up. Now as to the crochet projects, save for buttons the blue one for a friend is done. It was easily finished in one week and not difficult at all.
I also am working on some chair pads. This one is being crocheted in a basketweave pattern although it doesn't show well. That is fine as I am only interested in making it well padded for comfort.
And I am coming along very nicely finishing up this tablecloth for a friend. She started it fifty years ago and life got in the way of finishing it. She sent it to me to finish and I am honored to do so.
I decided to rearrange my kitchen a bit. I wanted it more cozy and different than it was.

And Miss sylvia Joy is just interested in washing the acreage!

Cross stich and Frogging!

I had planned on getting on here and crow about having my greens done on the border but no!
For some reason this spot has been a silly pain! I have redone it more than once and goofed yet again. I still have some to tear out but am hopeful it will be right this time.
And now that I have boo hooed about that, here is some Sylvia sillies! After our string war.

And it needed a good nap afterwards.

Thanks for viting this short post. Huggles and blessings.
