Missed me?

So sorry I haven't posted this week much or read many blogs. I have been so sick with a migrane from stress. I will catch up with you all, I promise! Just everything that has happened since we moved here is really getting to be not so humorous! I mean the roof leak, the flooded basement, no hot water for a couple days because of the flooded basement and now the furnace has quit working! ARRRGGHHH! I don't want to play anymore and I just might pout! LOL! i have prayed and turned it all over to God and on with life! I am nearly finished with the wedding sampler. I will be posting a picture tomorrow and some other good pictures!

Stitchy news!

Yes, I really have been stitching! Here is the proof! I am nearly finished with the wedding sampler. Since I took this photo a day or so ago, I have finished all of the verse and most of the top border. I would say I have about 25 percent or less of it to go.On middie, I have finished one section of purple along the bottem of her gown and a bit more of the gown itself. I haven't really worked very hard at it because I so want to get the wedding one done and sent on.

1. I worked with a dear lady and her organization who rescued cats. I was the secretary and I really enjoyed the experience!

2. I check all doors and windows before I go to bed!

3. I talk to animate and inanimate things!

4. If I get really scared or upset, I faint! It runs in the family so what can I say!

5. I sat in the heat once waiting for Jack to get home when I found a spider on the door.

6. I do not like talking on the phone. Makes me way to nervous!

7. I am afraid of basements!

Happenings in Kansas

We have had so much rain since Sunday that the Marmaton river is over it's banks. Not bad but somewhat flooded. It happens any time we get a lot of rain. I have seen it a whole lot worse! But I thought you might like to see a couple pictures. The river is on the north side of Fort Scott in an area called a flood plain. There are actually a few houses and buildings in that area and they have been flooded many times. Most of fort Scott is up on the hills well away from the area! of course with all the rain our basement was full of water again and took 12 hours to pump out. Hopefully by tomorrow we will have hot water again! Of course we had our leaks in here again. Luckily it is confined to just one area in the doorway of our bedroom. I will be glad when it dries up enough to have the new roof put on! Our landlord is also going to put a permanent sump pump in.

Take a walk with us!

Let me start off by asking for some prayers for Greensburg Kansas. Friday evening a tornado destroyed 90% of the town and killed 9 folks.
I thought you would like to see some of the places in our neighborhood. I took these pictures on our morning walk Saturday. This little red victorian house is next door to us. i just love all the gingerbread on it!
This big white house was once a beauty too I am sure. Now it is sitting empty and I can't help but imagine what it could be once again.

This is the church only two doors down from us off our alley. It is very old and we have been attending services there the last two Sundays. The people are so warm and loving. You should see the lovely stain glass windows inside! Sorry, but they don't show well on the outside. Can you tell a lot of our streets are still brick? Pretty to look at but not so pretty to drive on!
Our corner neighbors irises are blooming. They go to the same church and live right behind the church across the alley.

I do so hope you enjoyed seeing some of the neighborhood houses! Next week I hope to show you a picture of a very unusual house just a couple blocks from us. The garage looks like a castle!

Show and tell Friday

Kelli is hosting this Show and Tell friday today. I thought it would be interesting to do.
The angel in the middle will always be very special to me. Of course they all are, especially the ones that were gifts. Jack gave me this one for Christmas in 2003. Not so special you say? Let me tell you about that time in my life. 2003 and 2004 were not easy years.

In October of 2003, my 93 year old Grandmother passed away. She had been like my mom since my mother died when I was 9. Although I was glad Grams wasn't suffering anymore it still is hard to let them go. Just as I was getting through that another blow came. The Monday before Christmas Jack became very ill and ended up in the hospital. He had a very bad case of pancreatitis and was one step away from being in the ICU! He had to go without food for a few days to give his pancreas time to rest. Come to find out he had a bad gallbladder and had to have surgery the week after Christmas. I ended up bringing all our gifts to the hospital and we celebrated there and opened presents. That angel kept me company and eased my loneliness and sadness until Jack came home on New years Day.
In March, just as Jack was starting to get better, our little dog Bubba became ill. 3 weeks later, Bubba had to be put to sleep at the age of 6 and a half. I have told you the story of Bubba before so I will spare the retelling. It just so happens the day we lost Bubba was the same day in 1969 when my mom passed away. All those emotions just about did me in! I suffered a severe depressive episode with my bi polar and had to quit working. I have been unable to work since then.
As if all that wasn't enough, on September 26 of that year our friend Mary passed away just two days after her 46th birthday. She had fought cancer for nearly 10 years and although I wouldn't want her to suffer that anymore, I really miss her.
Through all this, the angel Jack had given me was a reminder of the angels God places in our lives to comfort and help us through the tough spots. So you see, that angel will always hold a special reminder in my heart.

Prayer for the Discouraged and Wounded Soul

LORD, thank You for loving me just as I am. Thank
you for never giving up on me even though
I sometimes feel full of shame, anger and fear.
Thank you for your mercy, grace and forgiveness.
Breathe on me today with a fresh breeze of love,
peace and comfort. Restore me in the broken
places.
I'm tired and I rest in Your promise that You want the
best for me
and You are able to cause it to be, regardless of my
present circumstances.

I feel lost and have taken so many wrong turns,
You know the plans You have for me.
Order my steps! Meet me right now where my needs
are. Reveal to me your blessed assurance in a way
that I could not doubt your presence and provision in
my life. Change my heart, thoughts and words.
Restore my hope and joy with your direction and
protection. Lord you have my full attention. I listen
only to you.
I surrender my whole heart and life to You with
confidence
that You are able to make all things work together for
my good.
I turn my attention away from the enemy of
discouragement
and turn my face to Thee for my strength and provision.

I'm feeling stronger now and give You thanks in
advance for my unusual blessings and breakthrough.
I will stop counting my bruises and start counting my
blessings. I realize now it?s time to take better care of
myself.

Thank you Lord for the remembrance of the blood you
shed,
your wounds, your healing and resurrection power.
This inspires me rise and roll away the stone of my
cave of
depression and isolation. I am alive. I am still here.
This is a day I have never seen before.
I will rejoice and be glad in it.
I rise today in your love knowing that
my pain can change.
And so it is!
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Why Call Me "Lord"?

READ | Luke 6:46-49

Jesus asked a pointed question to a group of His followers in Luke 6:46. He said, "Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?" Using His illustration of the two builders, we can see four key truths.

First, professing faith in Christ without performance is deceptive. If you say you love Jesus on Sunday, but show no signs of a Spirit-led life all week, then you're living a lie. There's no other way to say it.

Second, profession followed by performance has a price. Some people wander through life without any real focus. They pay attention to the loudest voice or the brightest star. In contrast, living intently and passionately for Christ is usually difficult. Making wise choices may require extra effort, but the reward is well worth it.

The third key truth is this: profession followed by performance will succeed. Everyone on earth faces trials. And sometimes there's one devastating storm after another. But if we focus on God's Word and apply His truth to our circumstances, we'll be able to stand firm in difficult times. Our lives will be supported by the strong foundation of Jesus Christ.

Finally, professing faith in Christ without performance results in ruin. The world's "easy way" may seem more enjoyable, but it results in living without a spiritual base. When trouble comes, our lives would crumble. That's a far cry from the victory and strength our Savior wants us to experience.

Why do you call Jesus "Lord"? Do your actions reflect your faith? Be a wise builder. Construct your house on the strong foundation of Christ, and let your performance match what you profess.
