Word-filled Wednesday

Here is our verse and picture for today! I apologize that the words are a bit hard to read but I hope it blesses you anyway.

Important question!

First stitchy news and then we will get to a very important question!
I have added another project. The pattern was with the light effects thread Jack got me for Christmas. I really like this funky little heart. The light effects thread is a metallic so I am working with shorter pieces and using my Thread Heaven. It is not as bad to work with as regular metallic but it can be a pain so I just work slowly!
Now for a burning question of epic proportions! Is this paint yellow enough?
This is our hallway which is not a real sunny spot. The landlord brought some paint by last week and said if we liked any of it we could use it. (Yes, that is my bathroom sink-in the hallway. The bathroom is laid out weird and there is no room for it in there!)

So I was intrigued by one that was called egg custard. I thought it would be a nice soft yellow. Well yellow it is but soft it isn't!!!! It actually made my eyes hurt painting with it. I was thinking maybe this isn't a good choice. Jack suggested I give it a go and keep painting and live with a bit and see if we like it. Well, you know, I do like it! It really brightens up the hallway. So it will stay but wear your sunglasses!
Not much else going on around here. I will post a couple pics I took of Good Old Days. No, we didn't go but we drove past. And think good thoughts for Jack and I! Our 27th anniversary is the 6th. How awesome that is to us both. No celebration or dinner out this year as we are trying to pay off some things and are kinda short on funds. But we are happy just to spend a quiet day stitching together. See you soon!

Wild night in Fort Scott!

For the last 2 weeks or so we have been getting rain pretty much every day. lately it has been coming in the evenings and early mornings. Thursday morning we got nearly 3 inches of rain. Then last night about 5 or so in the evenings the rain moved in again. By ten last night the lightening was getting really bad. We heard it strike near by a number of times. A couple times the lights went out briefly. Then one time we saw lightening strike near by again and the whole house shook for over a minute. Pretty soon we saw police cars racing by and then fire trucks. When we walked out on the porch we could see smoke billowing into the sky north of us. All I could do was pray for the people I knew must be really frightened and in shock.
This morning we walked down and the pictures tell it all. This was a lovely old victorian home a couple blocks from us. The fireman told us that the people were home and downstairs when it happened. They didn't even know it was their house that was hit. A passerby called 911 and I guess alerted the people inside. Please keep them in your prayers. they were also trying to sell their home at the time.

Lots to talk about!

First some news about what is going on here in Fort Scott this weekend. We are having Good Ol' Days! There will be motorcyles, arts & crafts, food, music, green beret skydivers and oh so much more! Visit here to learn more! And if you get tired from all that fun, just come by the house. We will set on the porch and drink ice tea and have a snack and lots of laughs and fun!
Now on to stitching! here is Jack's progress on his baby quilt! Aren't the colors lovely?
Here is my progress. It is coming along nicely and I have a bit of a break from the morning glories.
This was what we saw Sunday afternoon! Doesn't that look like fun? The kids were just laughing and having so much fun!
See this guy? I am ready to have fried squirrel!!!!!!!!! More than once he has scared me half to death jumping from our porch to the tree out front. Sunday he was annoying Katie and teasing her something awful! He aggrevates poor Flash next door too! Katie managed to knock a pot of flowers over trying to get him. The flowers survived but I was glad when the little rodent moved on after his fun! LOL!
I think that squirrel chasing was too much for poor Katie! Crashed out big time! Bye for now!

Sad news!

I just got word that Thomas went to be with Jesus at 9:12 central time. It is sad for those who are left behind but I can't help think of Thomas up there running and walking and able to speak normally again and do all the things he no longer could here. Please keep Ma in your prayers as she adjusts to her loss. God bless you all for the prayers that were sent up on his behalf.

How to spend a quiet Saturday

How do you spend a quiet, pleasant Saturday? Jack is reading,
Michelle is sewing,
And Katie is puttering in the yard. We took a ride out to the park here in town and had a little ice cream treat too. Hope you are having a great weekend and remember why we have Memorial day and be thankful for all the sacrifices made to keep us free here in the USA!
Well, I finished the wedding sampler. Just a couple more beads to attach and off it will go next week. I am thankful it is done and can go to Ma and Thomas!
Jack finished a project too! It is such a cute little thing!
Here is a baby quilt Jack is working on now! It will be a lot of work but the colors are so soft and pretty! He isn't sure what he will do with it yet. May go to Newborns In Need or our doctor who is expecting.

Update and a funny story!

Here is my wedding sampler. I am nearly done. I feel a very urgent need to get it done. you see, Thomas is failing quickly. He spent a few days in the hospital and came home Monday. He is down to 111 pounds, can no longer walk or hold himself upright. He can only whisper when he speaks and has no use of his left arm. He told Ma and the Chaplin today that he is ready to go home and see Jesus. You know, it takes a lot of courage to fight an illness but it takes a special courage and strength to know when to say "I no longer wish to fight, I am ready for my Homegoing." Please keep them in your prayers.
Meet Flash! he is a 3 month old bassett pup that lives next door! This boy is a character and a half! He is full of himself and loves to aggrevate Katie! I just love his deep bassett bark and he is such a cuddly little sweetheart!

Doesn't Katie look comfy? This was her today taking her mid morning nap! Something funny happened on our evening walk today! Jack decided we should take a shortcut home through the alley! BIG mistake. There was a duck in someones back yard. I thought it was a statue at first until it walked and quacked. She made a beeline for Katie and gave her a peck on the head! I about rolled on the ground laughing! The look on Katie's face was priceless and there was Jack trying to stay between the two of them. That duck followed us to the end of the alley trying her best to get another shot at that intruder! Katie kept wanting to stop, Jack kept telling her to get a move on and I was laughing until I cried! That duck stood there and stared at us until she was certain she had defended her turf and she waddled back to her yard! So that is our day today!

Got a nice surprise!

Look what came in the mail from Vonna! A lovely PIF gift (Pay It Forward). She made me a lovely scissors fob attached to a very pretty pair of scissors, sent a postcard and some yummy floss! I hope she can feel me hugging her neck!
