Country drive, cross stitch & Katie

Now what is better than those 3 things? LOL! I had to post on blogger as wordpress will not let me add pictures or do much of anything. I am back to cross stitching on Rainbow Bridge. Yep, I finally went and bought the missing floss.
And here is the angel as I left her. The wings are done and now I am working on the moon behind her.
Here is one of Jack's dollies that he just finished. I like the colors a lot. perfect for the colors in our little home.
This was Katie this afternoon, waiting for dad to come home from a trip to the store. She can see him come up the drive from her vantage point.
Looking down the highway at the prairie near El Do. I think it is quite lovely and I try to imagine what it must have been like 100 years ago.
I can never get the spelling right, so here is the sign.
One last prairie picture. I could spend forever here just looking and enjoying.
We went east on a road not to far north of us called Lake Hill Road on the south edge of Camp Galilee. Well we ended up behind Silverline ranch which is pretty much the largest one in our county. We were greeted by the llamas and enjoyed watching them for a bit.
All in all it was a wonderful ride. We went way east, then north a bit and south back home. Of course we did get us a couple big drinks from sonic first. So that is it for me. God bless and keep you.

I quit!

Several things have made me decide to give up on Blogger. First I have people tell me they can not view my blog for some reason or they can not leave comments. I don't like that because what good is a blog like that? Second for a while now Jack and I both occasionally can not access our e mail accounts or our blogs. It can be a frustrating day or two trying to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it. This past week I was locked out yet again. I was able to get e mails as they go to my incredimail also but blogger was no go. All the usual tricks were no good at all and I hesitated to try and ask google for help as that is always a big zero as well. After trying everything from Wednesday evening until Friday I gave up, filled out the form and sent it to google. The next morning I got the standard form letter saying they had no idea why I was having problems and they were sorry but there was nothing else they could do. But I could make a new account! Oh brother like that really helped! Well I tried the last thing I knew to do. I decided to sign out of my home page knowing I might lose that as well. Instead of signing me out it sent me to a page with all of googles products and I wondered what I had done. But when I got back to my homepage, there was my gmail and I could access blogger again. But enough is enough and I am making the switch to my wordpress account. It is hard for me to leave blogger because I am familiar enough with it to be comfortable doing all manner of thing but I will become that way with wordpress as well. I only hope I don't put you all out to much with the change and I hope you continue to visit me. Huggles.

This is the last of the pillowcases in Jack's stash. We won't have to worry about having any for some time to come! This one is called party line. So cute with all the little birds!
I have finished the dark blue below their feet and now I am after the border. Thankfully it goes much quicker than all the large areas of blue. I hope I can have more progress next time.

Dogs On Thursday

Oh the life of Katie! So much to do like take care of your dad when he is sick. What a good little nurse she is!
Steal yourself a chunk of dads afghan while he is using it. If you must sit on his feet so he will move them then so be it!
And don't forget to wash your face at bedtime! It would be a shame to go to bed dirty!

A busy Saturday

This is me with my cousin Dale at his dad's graveside service Dale has Multiple Sclerosis and Muscular Dystrophy. I was thinking(which is dangerous for me) that we are about the same age but he is 48 which is a year younger than me.
Afterward, we had a family dinner at Dale's older brother Les and his wife Glenna's place. Les is the big fella on the left with the beard. Yes he does Santa and he and Glenna are rein actors. Les shoots black powder guns. That is their daughter on the end closest, granddaughter and sons and his mom in law. Glenna's mom is a sweetheart and a riot. I just love her!
There is mom telling on me behind Glenna and Glenna's sister in law with the dark hair. I was threatened by Glenna after I snapped the picture but I just laughed!
Les surprised Glenna with some lovely mums.
The punkin patch. There are some big ole punkins too!
I really like Les' raised garden. Jack is gonna do one for us. He got some plastic drums and cut them in half and bolted them to the wood frames which set on concrete blocks.

That was our Saturday and I am pooped! Busy days wear me out but I saw some people I haven't seen since I was a child such as Les' Uncle Fred so it was worth it. Blessings until next time!

Stitching, a gift and Katie

Here is Jack's quilt squares done in pink. I think it just may be my favorite of the three.
I am back to working on my Ruth project. I am hoping a change in stitching will get me motivated to cross stitch more. I am working down along the bottom.

And now my best part. First I need to apologize to my friend Susan in OK. I won this in her 400th post contest and it arrived several days ago. I have been very bad at keeping up with anything. Bapple Bread

This is a recipe from Mr. Food. I think it sounds so good. I plan to try it later this week or next. Just thought I would share it with my friends.

Bapple Bread

4 ripe bananas
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup applesauce
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour

---

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 9" x 5" loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.


2. Place bananas in a large bowl and mash with an electric mixer. Stir in sugar and let stand 15 minutes. Add applesauce and eggs and beat well. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly.


3. Pour mixture into loaf pan and bake 55 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before removing from pan. Cool on a wire rack

Been awhile I know!

I fully believe this little girl in this picture was saved by a miracle. Last week she was out playing with the families 3 dogs while dad watched her and talked on the phone. The girl and the dogs went around the side of the house and dad went inside for a few moments. His wife told him supper was ready and he hollered at the little girl. No answer, so he went outside and hollered again. Then he saw one of the dogs returning from the direction of a pond and he took off running. He was just in time to see the dog in the picture pulling the girls lifeless body from the pond by her hair. Dad started CPR and got her breathing. He then threw her over his shoulder and ran for the house so the wife could call 911. By the time they got to the house the girl had stopped breathing again so dad did CPR again and got her breathing again. She was still unconscious when lifeflight arrived to take her to Springfield Mo. She woke about 3 or 4 days later and is doing fine.
On a lighter note. I wanted to share a book I have from the 1930's. I bought it at a flea market in Nevada Mo in 1993 or 1994. I just love to look at the patterns and the pictures.

Jack has one pillowcase done. Now he is working on his quilt square.

Here I am!

I was going good on my stitching until the bulb in my lamp conked out only leaving the lowest setting. So no more stitching for me until I get a new one Wednesday. Poor me! LOL!
Jack is doing some pillowcases. Love the purple flowers! He is still working on quilt squares as well.
Well we are not done with this room yet. Jack bought a couple new outlets for it and rocker style light switch. He ended up using one of the outlets in the kitchen and bought another to replace it. Well, he installed the one for the computer but seems the other outlet ran away from home. We have torn this place up trying to find it. So after Wednesday we will be able to finish up in here. I just wanted to give you a sneak peek. A messy computer desk.
Here is the south wall. Yep that is Jack and I in a picture taken in the late 1980's.
This is what a rocker style light switch looks like. Great for folks like me with nerve damage and weakness in the hands. They are so easy to turn on and off and don't hurt me to use like regular switches.

So that is what is going on with us. We are also anticipating a big cool down and much needed rain. In the last 2 weeks we have only gotten one day with rain and not very much then. Also please pray for my Uncle Pat's kids. Uncle Pat was my uncle by marriage and he passed away at the age of 86 yesterday. My cousin Dale is who I worry about. He is 6 months older than me and has had Muscular Dystrophy since we were in the 3rd grade. They thought he would not live into adulthood and he will be 50 in January. He and Uncle Pat were at the nursing home here together. When Uncle Pat became to frail to live at home and continue to care for Dale they both had to move. Thanks and god bless.
