What a week thus far!

I am sure some of you think I have dropped off the earth! But I promise I did not. Monday was full of housework because our niece Tina was going to be here Tuesday on a pass for my birthday. And of course Wednesday was also busy with our mid month shopping. I am about tuckered! LOL! Here is Tina and I at the cemetery where her grandmother on her mom's side is buried. I sure do not like seeing me in pictures! LOL! I am a chubby thing and my poor body is so bent and twisted! But the spirit sure isn't twisted!
Here is Jack and Tina. That darn sun was hot and bright! Liked to have melted us all!
Tina colored this for me. I love it! It means the world to me.

Look at this silly pair! Tina is just plain full of silliness!
And this is my new wedding band that is on the way. I am embarrassed to admit this, but I lost my other one. I really feel bad about it and yes, I did cry about it! I was having a lot of trouble a few years ago with my fingers swelling and I had taken my rings off. Was I careful to put them somewhere safe? NO! I laid them on my side table. I guess it got knocked off into the trash. This style of ring is called a claddagh and is Irish. Perfect since Jack is Irish/Italian. They are traditionally given either as friendship or wedding rings. The hands mean friendship, the heart means love and the crown means loyalty. If you wear it with the heart pointing out it means you are engaged. Facing the other way means you are married. It used to be given with the following words, "With my hands I give you my heart, and crown it with my love." So there is a little history for you! Jack let me pick out and order the ring I wanted and I got a very good deal on this one. It is made with silver which suits me fine and was under sixty dollars which also suits me fine! LOL! If I can get a good deal for little money, you know I will! Oh it will have our names and the date of our marriage inside! That was a freebie!
So that is all for me for now. God bless you all! And to all those who wished me well for my 49th, I thank you. It means a lot to me!

Oh, happy belated birthday:~D
I haven't worn my wedding rings in almost a decade now, due to swelling as well, but substituted a pretty Avon ring with two purple hearts set in silver.(still happily married to the same sweet man, praise God!) I also have a cheaper super size ring when I'm really swelling;~P Love the ring you chose.
Glad you are posting again.

Hi Michelle!
Yes, it looks like you had a very busy week with Tina visiting--how thoughtful that she colored that picture for you!
Your new wedding ring and the meaning behind it, is beautiful! I've lost rings before, so I understand how you were upset, especially when it's your wedding ring. So happy to hear you're able to replace it.

Happy Belated Birthday!! Thanks SO much for sharing the story of the ring. I inherited a ring from my grandmother (good 'ole scotch-irish blood, dont ya know??) :) The ring has this symbol on it. I've loved the ring but never realized there was a "meaning" behind it. The ring is very old and precious and now means even more to me!! I hope that you will have many happy years together, making memories with your new ring!!

Hi Michelle,
I've been absent from blogging too, so I totally understand. It's wonderful to catch up on your news. I'm sure you loved having Tina for a visit and you can tell she's loving Katie!
Your new wedding band is beautiful and I so enjoyed reading the meaning and story behind it. I know it will be a beautiful reminder of the love you and Jack share.

I gained weight and had to take my rings off because the skin under the rings were getting infected or something. So hubby took them to the jewelry store to have the stretched a little bigger so I could wear them. Now it would be nice to lose some weight and have them shrunk again.
Ha! :D
The ring is pretty and glad you are getting another one.

I think we all are busier during the months of nicer weather. I haven't visited as much either.

Hurray for your new ring!

When I first got engaged, I didn't get my ring sized properly and it fell right off my finger into...A PUBLIC TOILET!!

You'd better believe I got it sized correctly after that!

The new wedding ring is beautiful!!! I lost my entire set! After my divorce, I carried my rings wrapped in a kleenex in a sandwich bag in the bottom of my purse. I also carried baby wipes for my hands in a sandwich bag, kleenex in yet another bag, etc. So one morning, I was in a hurry to get to work and changed purses and made up new bags of kleenex, baby wipes, etc. and threw all the old ones away, never thinking about the bag with my rings!!! And then I dropped my trash in the dumpster on my way! Never even thought about them for a couple of months!!! That's the only thing I could think of that could have happened to them. I know that sick feeling!!! Awful, isn't it? But I am glad you are getting a new one!!! It is so pretty and such a nice meaning behind it, too!
