Late, as usual!

Not only am I late because of being sick, I forgot to take a picture of my cross stitch progress. Oh well, that gives me something to share with you tomorrow or Saturday! I am right now working on a cape for me, the brown, and for a friend in blue.

And here are my potholders I was working on. All lined up and ready to work!
And can not forget the ever silly Sylvia!

A Crochet Stitch for you to try

I am about finished with my potholders. I wanted to share the stitch I use for you crocheters out there. I don't know the true name of it. I call it a fat single crochet. It makes a double thick fabric with little work and does not use any more yarn or very little more than a normal single crochet. To start, ch 30, do a normal single crochet in second chain from hook and all the way across your chain for a total of 29 stitches. I used a size H hook and dishcloth cotton yarn. On the next row insert hook in the back loop (the loop furthest from you) and catch the loop at the bottom of the chain row.
Pull up a loop and work off just like a standard single crochet. Continue across making sure to count your stitches and not working in the same loop twice. Your row will look like this facing you.
And like this on the other side.
Here is a finished row.
In your next row you will again work the back loop only and the left over loop from the last row.

It makes a very lovely pattern and once you get used to what it looks like it is really not hard if you count carefully and be a little careful.
Make it the size you like and then finish it off by doing a slip stitch in the same manner as you did the single crochet. I do single crochet around the other three sides, add a loop made of chain 8 in the corner and call it done.
Now for a little Sylvia picture of a little foot.
And a very tired baby!

Cross stitching, potholders and snow!

We were surprised with a bit of snow on the ground this morning. I did not much like the temperature of 10 with a feels like of 2. Brr! They say bad weather tomorrow afternoon. That means we will get to the store early just in case.

I sat and made a few snowflakes this morning. This afternoon I made a potholder and started another. I need about six so I will always have clean ones handy.
My beloved jack is working on pillowcases. It is a joyful thing to see him feel like stitching again!

I have done a bit of stitching myself! I am working on all the greens along the border. Then I will do the flowers. Last I will finish up the bits inside the border.

Someone was too lazy to make it past the arm of the chair.

Cross stitching again and lots of sylvia pics!

Things have slowed enough that I am able to cross stitch again and slow down on the things people want too. Maybe I can get some of my things done too I like that nice balance. I am going to crochet thru the week and cross stitch on the weekends. If I can manage that one, I will post on Mondays and Fridays. Unless a wicked migrane hits like last night. Anyway here is my cross stitch progress.

And I thought you might like to see a batch of angels all stiffened and ready to go.
Now on to the ever adorable, and silly Sylvia!
How can she sleep in such positions?
More sleepy kitty. It seems to be time to hibernate.
Play time!!!
More naps!
And kitty piggers!

Cross stitch and crochet

Well it has been a busy week and I am a day late on posting but here I am this morning. Jack started working on some pillowcases.  I do love the colors he chose for this pair.

I have done 10 angels for someone and now am ready to stiffen them.
Got to work on my tablecloth while at the doctor office yesterday as well.

I don't share a lot about my health and weight but I am today. At one point not so long ago, I weighed 280 pounds. Once I began to get a grip on the PTSD and dealt with some bad things in the past I did lose a little weight, about 20 pounds. This is me at 280.
Since July after being diagnosed with diabetes, I have now dropped down to 235 pounds. If I can get to 200 I will be happy and anything after that is a bonus! My blood pressure is down to 114 over 76 and my sugars are great! Jack and I simple limit the carbs we eat per day. He is down from 360 to 298 now. This is me yesterday.
Now on to our silly Sylvia! Looking out the window from her royal cat tree!
And just chilling out on the sofa.

Only one sock? That will not do!

I can see the end of snowflake making for the time being. Three dozen more to do and ten angels.  It has been fun but I have plenty else I need to get done as well so I be booked up the rest of the year. I have started some socks for my poor feet when they get cold and will do some for the husband as well. Not sure why the camera made the one pic look blue. It is purple!

We also have made a couple purchases at our favorite second hand store the Green Box in Rogers AR. The ladderback chair will be refinished and we only paid 14 dollars for it. And the chest of drawers will be painted. That grey just does not do me any good at all. The storage for our clothes is wonderful though.

Took some time to put a puzzle together too.
And Too slim the snowman would like to complain about the lack of snow around here!
Sylvia Joy was hiding from the storms last weekend that dumped 8.31 inches on us and caused lots of flooding.
Today she is basking in the sun.

And having a little kitty tree time too.
