Friends, a horse and stitching

I want you to meet a very lovely family! This is the Burrell family! Here is Dad having a bit of fun with his daughters
Here is the whole family. Dad Paul and mom Angela and the girls. They have the most awesome website full of recipes, sewing tips, stories, pictures and just tons of other stuff. They also explain their journey to living a plain and simple life. Whether or not you agree with their manner of dress and living, you owe it to your self to visit them at Sheperd's Hill. You won't be disappointed. They are a loving Christian family. I haven't known them long, but I already feel they are friends.
Now I want you to meet a little fella we met this past week. We had to go over to a bigger town west of us to do some banking and other errands. Here was this little guy half asleep, waiting for his family!
Yes, I have been cross stitching. Sorry the photo is blurry but my house is nearly done. I would have taken another, better picture but I am down in my hips and back today so this is as good as it gets! LOL! I just need to do the fence, backstitch and it is on to other areas.
Remember all the progress I was making on my Ruth 1:16 piece? Ha, ha, some progress!!!!! I have to tear out a lot, and I do mean a LOT of my stitching and redo it. I messed up BIG time so it isn't lining up right. I put it aside for now and will deal with it later! So that is enough for me for today. See you soon!

Word-filled Wednesday

This is a little different than what we usually do. It isn't a photograph at all but rather a little card they used to give to you in Sunday School. I am not sure if it was my mother's or my grandmothers but it is dated June 7, 1942. I thought it was pretty cool! The scripture is partially missing so here it is for you.

He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.~Isaiah 53:5
Please join us for Word-filled Wednesday by visiting Amy-Deanne and signing up on Mr. Linky. You may make one of your own or use someone elses.

Welcome and come on in!

Come on in and set a spell! Have a banana nut muffin and some blueberry tea and we will chat a bit. Got a nice size bag of ripe bananas for a whopping 39 cents so seemed like a good time to make muffins!
Here is Katie this morning surveying her kingdom. She was watching the little dogs across the street and keeping a close eye out on a squirrel!
Caught Jack puttering in his shed/workshop. I am surprised it came out good enough that you can see him fairly clear!
Progress on Jack's baby quilt! Looking good!
Here is a close up of the bears face. I think he is a cute little begger!
That's all I have! A quiet weekend in Missouri! Huggles until next time!

What If?

This was written by my dear friend Ma. I hope it will bless you! She is a dear lady in Oklahoma and writes just the way she spells!

What if taday was the very day
That would change yer life forever
What ifin it ment you'd have ta live
With a feelin that would always hinder
What ifin each day brought sadness and gloom
No matter how hard you'd try
What ifin your days were long and lonely
Ya were mad ,there was no kiss good-bye
What ifin at home the sounds of laughter
Were gone and cries were heard
What ifin the children did not understand
The changes that just occurred
What ifin taday was the very last day
His voice ya would ever hear
What ifin ya couldnt say the words
"Untill the end I was there"
Is it worth it ta live yer life
With pain that wont go away
Or can ya say Im glad we made up
There will be no What Ifs ta say.

This, that and the other!

Here is the progress on my heart. I have been working hard on him this week and am really close to finishing it.
This is a project I started on tonight. The fabric doesn't show up well but it is a blue-violet aida made by DMC. My friend Mary B. gave me the pattern! Thank you Mary and I am finally cross stitching it! LOL!
I want to share a fabric dye recipe for all you cross stitchers.

Fabric Dye With Kool Aid
2 packages of kool aid
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup white vinegar
Heat water until hot but not boiling. Remove from heat, add kool aid and stir until dissolved. Add vinegar. Place fabric in mixture and soak 15 minutes. Rinse, soak another 15 minutes, rinse and iron dry.

Thought you would like to see a picture of our church. This is where my cousin Brent preaches and was once the Lutheran church before they disbanded. It is a gorgeous old building with stain glass windows and a gorgeous wooden ceiling inside.

Here is a little slide show of my favorite store here in town called Ehler's variety. They have a little bit of everything! David and Kathy are the owner's children and actually pretty much run the store. I am afraid the picture of Kathy didn't come out to clear. Sorry.
