This is what we woke up to Saturday morning! Fortunately it was gone by noon. On Friday we got around 3 inches of rain and had thunderstorms. With all that rain, our roof sprung a leak. Mel, the landlord is planning on having it replaced and now that timetable has been pushed up with a leak happening. But that isn't the worse thing that happened this weekend. We ran out of hot water Saturday and just figured the hot water tank had went out. Well, it didn't! Our basement was so flooded it had put out the pilot light! So this morning, Mel had to go and buy a sump pump to get the water out of the basement. It took all afternoon as the water was just past ankle deep! Now tomorrow Mel will have to clean out the burner and relight the tank! We found out what caused the basement to flood. Someone had run a cable in through the old coal shoot door which of coursed caused it to be open a couple inches. With the unusually high rain, it just poured right in there. Well, Jack has fixed that problem by removing the cable and the door will be sealed shut and the ground regraded away from it. So that has been our fun weekend.
This is how Katie spent most of her weekend. It was so lovely today though she did get two walks which made her very happy!
And lastly, here is my progress on the wedding sampler. It is about 3 days worth of work. Not much done on it today or Friday. But I am getting there!

Sounds like a very wet weekend. Is that the same sampler you posted the other day? I thought the year was different. 1998?
Maybe I'm confused!!
hugs!!
Boy, it like they say when it rains it pours. lol. I think the wedding sampler is beautiful. Have a good week. connie from Texas
Sounds like you had an exciting weekend and not the good kind of exciting :(
But Katie took it all in stride, didn't she?! LOL!
Good Luck with everything...hope everything is dried up and ok!
Ah, you just move and get settled in and WHAMO! I'm so sorry! Surely things will get better now; I'll be praying they do!
(Groovy looks outside at the pouring rain atop the snow and runs down to check HER basement!)
Michelle, I see your Punkymood is turned to 'lighthearted', which seems nearly impossible with the kind of weekend you had behind you! I will try and ask Mother Nature to send some of our freakishly hot and dry weather your way!
Oh dear, between the snow, the rain and the flooding, it was the kind of excitement you really didn't want!! Glad they were able to figure out why the basement had flooded and it has now been repaired. I'm sure you must be wondering what kind of place you've moved into to but these things happen and I'm sure the landlord feels terrible! At least he seems to be right on top of things!! xoxo
Looks like your Katie and my Nina had the same idea for the weekend! LOL Hope your week goes better! Suz
sounds like quite the weekend!
Hope your week goes better!
Katie definitely has the right idea! What a great looking neighborhood though. Best of luck drying out!
How awful... All that water in your basement (Hope nothing got ruined) and no hot water. I've got a leaky roof too. Called the landlord, don't know when/if they're fixing it. Wasn't too happy about having to rewash all my sheets that I had stored right below the leak. :( Katie looks comfy!
