Thank you mom contest

My mom, dad, half brother Steve and me

Visit this blog for a contest honoring moms. http://chaotichome.blogspot.com/ It is a wonderful contest with neat prizes! Here is my story!
My mother was my best friend and comforter. At age 4 I was expected to die from a birth defect for which they could do nothing. My mom doctored me and cared for me. I managed to live long enough for a new surgery to come along that saved my life. There were fun times too. After mom waxed the floors, she and I would do the twist in our sock feet! What fun! There was also taffy pulling at Christmas. She made the holidays special. My parents had violent fights and mom tried to shield us kids from it. She was our staunch defender and protector. Her kids were her main thing in life and we were unconditionally loved. She passed away when I was nine after the stillbirth of my youngest brother. It tore me up but she taught me valuable lessons. Enjoy the simple things, judge people for what is inside, have fun, and love life no matter what.

What a wonderful story. Your mom sounds like she was a terrific person. I'm sorry she had to pass away so young. I had no idea about your birth defect...I'm glad they developed a surgery in time. I had a sister that passed away from a heart defect when she was 3. I know if she was born a few years later the surgery for it would have been perfected enough to have saved her.

How sad for you to lose your Mom at such a tender age (and your baby brother too!)
It's good that you have beautiful memories with which to remember her.

Wow. I think it's awesome that you have such fun memories of your mother. But you've also been through some tough times. You seem to have developed strength through these times, and probably learned that from your mother, too. What a lasting blessing that she has left for you. You have learned a lot through your mom, and how wonderful to share that with others. ;)

What a wonderful tribute to your mom, she certainly does sound like she was a lovely woman! How very sad, though, that you lost her at such a young age. It makes me realize how very lucky I am to still have my mom near me! xox

Lovely picture Michelle! Your Mom sounds awesome. It is sad that she was not with you very long-but you have wonderful memories of her that you will forever cherish.

Hi Michelle. I knew that your health was not very good, but I would never have thought it was that serious. And I'm glad you've made it all through: it means that there is a purpose for you to be there and share with us. Thank you.
About your mom: she was extremely beautiful, and the memories you have of her are priceless. I'm sorry she had to suffer all this, and pass away so early when you needed her so much. What is it that helped you out?
Cross stitching: your little bee's at work! And you're a busy bee too! It's a lovely project...
Take care!

I have laughed, and I sure have cried while reading through ALL of the Giving Thanks for Mother contest entries. And I've RE-READ them all since coming home, too.

I wish I could post ALL of them as winners, maybe send out some more books from my winnowed out collection. ;)

But I've FIANLLY published a winner and invite you to come on by and check out my post. I am working on a sidebar link to the winning post, but also a link to the contest post with ALL of the listed entries.

Oops. Just realized I'd already sent a message. I was concerned I'd missed you, but finally figured out you check comments before posting them. SORRY! ;)
